Host a sign

Put a hall sign on your fence

One sign on a front fence tells every neighbour who walks past that Murrumbeena needs a proper hall. We bring it, put it up, and take it away again.

What it takes

  • A front fence or garden

On private property, facing a street people walk or drive along. Renting? Check with your landlord or agent first.

  • One sign, about the size of a doormat

Landscape 600 × 450 mm for paling and picket fences, or portrait 450 × 600 mm for pillars and posts.

  • Ten minutes of a volunteer's time

We fix it with four UV-stable cable ties, or two wire stakes in a garden. No nails, screws or tape, and no marks. You don't need to be home.

  • Safe placement

Below 1.5 m, and never at a driveway corner where it could block a driver's view of the footpath.

  • Up to 12 months

The sign stays up while the campaign runs, for up to a year. Change your mind at any time: text us and we collect it within two days.

  • Free

The sign, the ties and the volunteer cost you nothing.

Sign shape

We use your details only to put up and take down the sign, and we never share them.

When the sign comes down

Corflute signs can't go in your household recycling bin. So we don't leave that to you: when a sign comes down, a volunteer collects it. Signs in good condition are reused, and the rest go to a specialist recycler of fluted polypropylene — the plastic sold as Corflute or Correx — so it can be made into new products instead of going to landfill.

Questions neighbours ask

Is this for a political party?

No. It's a Murrumbeena Primary School Council campaign, and we ask every party and candidate the same thing. The sign doesn't mention any party.

Who would pay for the hall?

The State — we're asking for it in the State Budget. Nothing from council rates, and nothing from you.

What's in it for the neighbourhood?

There's no council-run indoor court anywhere near here. The hall would be bookable for local clubs, classes and events — a neighbourhood space, not just a school one.

I'm in an apartment.

Body corporates usually don't allow fence signs, but a window poster works well. Say so in the form and we'll drop one off.

Will you share my details?

No. We keep your address only to put up and take down the sign. See the Terms of Use.

What if it gets damaged or stolen?

Text us and we'll replace or remove it.
